Clean and jerk, don't jerk off and clean...
Lol, that's what I think when people ask "what do you do in your free time out of camp?"
I would really like to thank the people in crossfithub for sharing all their knowledge regarding the various lifts and gymnastic movements. While my progress is awfully slow, some progress is better than nothing huh. Hope to be able to represent the community soon. That aside, I thought that this would be a good time to share some of my ideas of what is meant by "fitness". Fitness, the condition in which one is physically and mentally strong. If I wanted to sound cool I would add a "spiritual" dimension, but I ain't cool enough yet, or perhaps I haven't worked to the point wherein I fleeted with the otherworld. But that is besides the point. So many people ask me, would you rather be a lifter or a runner. I understand that it is tough to be able to run a sub 9 for 2.4 while lifting all the weight. Of course some people are supposed to be able to run a clean sub 9 for the 1.5mile run while doing 30++ pullups, not that I have seen many but there are one or two individuals whom I've had the pleasure and unfortunate luck to meet. (Why I say one or two is because I don't count butterfly pullups/kipping pullups/half pullups as strict, full-range pullups which imo is the criteria for ippt) But face it, I personally feel that that this individuals are naturally gifted in some aspect or another. No, I'm not trying to blame my genetics for not being able to do the above feat, I'm just saying that perhaps what takes me say 1 year of hard intense training with the right diet, time and sleep can be achieved by a much smaller time period by them. Of course, the fact that I am unable to do so is entirely my fault. Hence, I do believe that with proper training, you should be able to both run under a respectable timing and lift heavy weights. It's hard to find a balance, but I definitely think it is possible. When I was younger and more childish, I cursed my genetics. Now I curse my genetic but double my efforts. Nothing wrong with a bit of complaining here and there right? Why not be a runner and a lifter. You might not be able to run as fast as some people, you might not be able to lift heavier than some people, but I think combine both components together you'll probably beat a vast majority of this pure-lifters/runners. Currently, my definition of fitness encompasses weights, mobility, agility and running. I want to be at least a jack of all trades, maybe a master or two. Of course, being fit means being happy. So as long as you are happy, you are fit. Am I right to say that? I'll childishly say yea, why not. Because I'm a fool, and I'm glad I'm still a fool despite how pessimistic I am.
